Laboratories


The department has well equipped laboratories such as Basic Electronics, Analog and Digital Electronics, Solid state Device, Analog, Digital, Optical & Advanced Communication, Microwave and RF Engineering, Antenna & Transmission line, VLSI Design, Signal system & DSP, Electronics Circuit Design and Microprocessor etc.


Basic Electronic Engineering Lab :

 

This Laboratory is used for enhancement of fundamental logics about the electronic circuits and components. In this Lab, the first year students are trained to handle the basic equipments/instruments including Signal Generators, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope and Digital Multimeter. Fundamental experiments in Analog and Digital Electronics are offered. This lab is intended to give the students a practical experience in working with semiconductor devices such as junction diodes, bipolar junction transistors (BJTs), MOS field effect transistors (MOSFETs) and op-amps, and examines the design and operation of important circuits that utilize these devices.

Analog Electronics Circuit Lab :

 

The purpose of this lab is to provide a platform to the students for understanding the working principles of different types of active and passive elements through experiments and to study their characteristics. This lab makes student able to design, test and examine simple circuits with transistor, op-amp, amplifiers, oscillators etc. Most importantly they will be able to recognize, understand, modify and repair majority of circuits used in professional equipment design. It contains prominent experiments related to OP-AMP Parameters, Realization of Second order Active Filter, Voltage to Frequency Conversion, 555 Timer etc. The students design the circuits, solder them and then test the performance experimentally. The students also validate the experimental results using P-Spice computer simulator.

Solid State Devices Lab :

 

The primary objective of the lab is to serve as a platform for understanding the operating principles of electronic devices through experiments and also to study their characteristics. Most importantly this lab provides our students the knowledge about different diodes and analysis of simple circuits using diodes, testing of transistors (BJT, JFET, MOSFET) and idea about their characteristic curves. This lab builds the confidence of the students to design the advanced electronic circuits. The students study the impact of various design parameters on the performance of the circuits using Multisim simulator

Digital Electronics and Integrated Circuits Lab :

 

The objective of this lab is to provide our students a platform for practicing their theoretical knowledge by designing, constructing and testing the combinational as well as sequential digital circuits. The theoretical idea of the students are validated by testing the combinational and sequential logic circuits using trainer kit and as well as by constructing the circuits with bread board by using different ICs. This laboratory contains prominent experimental trainer kits related to various Logic-Gates, Flip-Flops, Counters & Shift Registers, Adder/ Subtractor, Multiplexer/Demultiplexer, Encoder/Decoder etc.

Analog and Digital Communication Lab :

 

The experiments in this laboratory enable the students to gather basic knowledge on communication systems. In this lab, experiments for Analog Communication Design lab and Digital Communication lab are carried out. The experiments are the fundamental blocks of any communication system use now-a-days. The experiments include study of AM, FM, ASK, FSK, PSK, PAM, PWM, PCM, DM etc. Students are also exposed to the different multiplexing techniques like TDM and FDM.

 Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab :

 

In this laboratory students get their first exposure on the programming of basic microprocessor chips like 8084, 8085 etc and 8051 microcontroller. This lab contains large number of microprocessor programming trainer kit. They also perform different application programming such as interfacing many peripheral elements like display, motor etc. Different Microcontroller based projects are performed in this laboratory. Chip burning facility is provided in this laboratory.

Antenna & Transmission Line Lab :

 

This lab helps the students to know about the radiation patterns of different types of antennas. This laboratory also provides set up for measurement of different transmission line related parameters. The setups are interfaced with computers and can support a wide range of frequency spectrum. This lab is one of the most important labs of communication engineering. In this lab student performs the practical for the antenna characteristics and its various properties. This lab has more than 22 different kinds of antennas which are micro strip, loop, helical, horn, Yadi-Uda and log periodic antennas etc. Research Based facilities and supports to final year students are provided in this laboratory in the field of Compact multiband Microstrip Antenna, Broadband Microstrip Antenna, Ultra wideband printed Antenna, Monopole Antenna, Defected ground structures, Microstrip Filter and RFID.

  Microwave & RF Engineering Lab :

 

Microwave Engineering Laboratory consists of various
1:- Microwave Sources such as Gunn Diode and Reflex Klystron Oscillator.
2:- Discrete X-Band Waveguide components such as Directional Coupler, Magic Tee, Variable attenuator, Detector and Matched termination etc.
3:- Ferrite Components such as isolator and Circulator.
4:- Microwave Measuring devices such as Slotted line Section, VSWR meter and Frequency meter.
5:- Microwave antennas such as parabolic dish and Horn antenna.
All these sources and components operate in the frequency range of 8-12GHz. In this Lab students are given hands-on experience on setting up the microwave bench for studying the characteristics of microwave sources, scattering parameters of microwave components and radiation pattern of microwave antennas. This Lab fills the gap between theory and experimental techniques. Students will also get exposure to the use of microwave test equipment for making measurements of frequency, VSWR, S-parameters, impedance and guide wavelength.
