Laboratories


The college has ten labs for electrical engineering stream. And each laboratory has sufficient number of experimental kits.


Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory :

 

In this laboratory the students get conversant with different types of meters (voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter), AC machines (Transformer), DC machines (motor) etc. They come to know about the characteristics of Fluorescent lamp, carbon & tungsten lamp and draw their characteristics curves. The students also verify the different network theorems like Thevenin's & Superposition theorem etc. The students perform altogether fifteen (15) different experiments.

Circuits & Network Laboratory :

 

The purpose of this laboratory is to make the students familiar with the design & analysis of different Electrical & Electronic Circuits through hardware & software (MATLAB/PSPICE) approaches by performing eight different experiments on Filter circuits, Transients, two-port network, different types of wave generation (periodic/non-periodic).

Electrical Machines Laboratory :

 

The purpose of this laboratory is to make the students familiar with different types of Electrical machines, such as motor, generator, transformer etc. Students perform six (6) different experiments like speed control of DC motor, open & short circuit test of single-phase transformer and they draw different characteristics curves of DC generator, alternator, induction motor, etc.

Power System Laboratory :

 

The laboratory is designed to make the students familiar with different types of circuit breakers, relays, cables etc. Both hardware & software approaches are taught. This lab has various modern experimental setups. Experiments are also performed using MI-POWER software. Students perform different experiments in this laboratory such as study of different types of insulators, determination of dielectric strength of insulating oil, active & reactive power control of alternator, earth testing, relay operation, load flow studies etc. in this lab.

Electrical & Electronic Measurement Laboratory :

 

The laboratory is designed to make the students familiar with measurement & calibration of different Electrical parameters such as Very Low resistance, Capacitance, Inductance, Power, Voltage, energy etc. The students are asked to perform 9 (nine) such experiments.

Control Systems Laboratory / Linear & Digital Control Systems Laboratory :

 

This laboratory is dedicated to teaching different methods of analysis, design of industrial control systems. Both hardware & software approaches are taught. The students are accustomed with practical control systems used in Industries through eight different experiments.

Power Electronics :

 

Different Simulation softwares, advanced power electronic setups are the key attraction of this lab. Modern Power Electronics experimental kits for example firing angle control of gate–triggering circuit, Power factor improvement using boost converter are done here.

MATLAB/PSPICE :

 

The purpose of this laboratory is to make the students familiar with the design & analysis of different electrical circuits through software (MATLAB/PSPICE) approaches.

Drives Lab :

 

This laboratory is dedicated to teaching different methods of electrical drives. Both hardware & software approaches are taught. The students are accustomed with practical drives systems used in Industries through different experiments.

PLC Lab :

 

This Lab contains various applications of programmable logic controllers by designing Ladder logic. Everyone knows, nowadays every human handled plants are being replaced by the automatic control system, thus called Automation. For the ease of access and for better precision the PLCs are accepted worldwide. In this Lab Siemens PLCs are installed and design also done by the SIMATIC STEP 7 software. It is one of the biggest name in the PLC software industry, being easy to use, control and modify. Some electrical drives such as D.C drives, A.C drives are also used because the control part is done by the PLCs but the main plant is based on these electrical drives.
